The Tonik’s tips for sustainable living

In spite of what old mate’s grandad is posting on Facebook about global warming, the team at Tonik HQ is still trying our best to put the environment first. As a growing brand, we’re implementing systems to ensure our carbon footprint is reduced as much as possible. So, as a business, and lil’ ol’ humans, we thought we’d share some of the ways we’re trying to live a more conscious, sustainable life.

  1. Ditch the plastic and use a metal/glass drink bottle.

Hey you, yeah you! We know you’re guilty of hoarding plastic bottles in your car (we’ve all been there!) and we know how boring it is to rummage through the mess and empty these bottles every month (or three, who’s counting?), so why not just opt for the easy way out and get a reusable bottle? You’ll be reducing waste, contributing to the planet AND reducing the mess in your car. Sounds like a win-win to us!

  1. Try #MeatlessMondays

Not everyone can commit to a plant-based diet, and that’s totally cool! Instead, why not try going meat-free for one day a week? Studies have shown that the industrial livestock production contributes to soil, air and water pollution and ocean dead zones. By reducing your red meat consumption you are already making such a huge difference and looking after the planet in your own way.

  1. Buy from eco-conscious brands.

Make the conscious decision to buy from brands who are actively raising environmental awareness and making an effort to reduce their waste, carbon footprint, and are producing their products ethically. Ahem (shameless plug) – like us. We’ve introduced recycled fish net travel bags to reduce packaging, and we have sourced natural ingredients for all our products. Take our Hemp Seed Oil capsules as proof – hemp seed is naturally and organically sourced and is LOADS more nourishing than Fish Oil, AND doesn’t harm the fishies in the process!

  1. Shop less, donate, or buy from second-hand clothing stores.

We think it’s pretty safe to assume your closet is packed full with pieces you haven’t worn in years (helloooo velvet tracksuit pants). Instead of taking up unnecessary space, or throwing these items out, head down to your local op-shop and donate them! In the same trip, you can even shop around for yourself. Op-shopping is not just ‘shopping’ – it’s a complete experience filled with unique, pre-loved pieces and one-of-a-kind steals!

  1. Recycle, recycle, recycle.

It’s the OG, but it’s still a goodie. Recycling is one of the easiest ways to do our bit for the planet. It can be as simple as separating your plastics, or as complex as you want it to be – it’s really up to you! There are so many ways you can incorporate recycling in your daily life. For example, ditch the plastic bag and put your recyclables straight into your recycle bin. Easy peasy!

Living a sustainable life doesn’t need to be overwhelming, as long as you’re incorporating little bits here and there, you’re already making such a huge difference. We believe in you and our planet!
